History Made as AI Beats Human in Popular Game

History was made today as Lee Sedol, the world champion of Go, was beat by AlphaGo, an artificial intelligence program designed by Google’s DeepMind at the game Go.

I think this is another scary instance of how technology and artificial intelligence has become as powerful, if not more powerful than, humans. It’s interesting to think that this comes just 19 years after IBM’s Deep Blue defeated world champion Garry Kasparov in a game of chess. I wonder where humans and artificial intelligence will rank and what development progress will occur in the next 19 years.
