Will Wikipedia become a more credible source?

Wikipedia, one of the top ten most popular sites on the web, has always been regarded as a controversial academic resource. With vandalism being one of the biggest drawbacks of the site, Wikipedia has taken action and signalled a shift away from “the era of growth to the era of quality”.

  1. Although Wikipedia is extremely convenient and provides the basic knowledge prior to major research, I agree that Wikipedia is not a reliable source.

I was surprised to hear that Wikipedia was one of the top ten most popular services on the Internet because I thought more people we’re steering clear from Wikipedia nowadays…

Very interesting article. I’m excited to learn more about the governance issues that impact Wikipedia on a daily basis in week 12!

    1. Although I can understand why you may claim that Wikipedia is an unreliable source, I’m surprised that YOU were surprised to hear that Wikipedia was one of the top ten most popular services on the Internet. In this situation I do not think that Wikipedia’s debatable credibility undermines its ranking or popularity seeing as how Wikipedia is typically one of the first websites to pop up in a search engine’s search.
